Summary: Andrej Koscuisko is a doctor whose social position has forced him into the job of Ship's Surgeon, which means part of his job is torturing political prisoners. Though he is a moral man, he discovers he really enjoys that aspect of his work. Lots of (male) homoerotic tension. The other two books in the series are not nearly as good.

Summary: In some ways my favorite of the books in this series. The writing is really good. The one thing that makes me give these a lower rating than perhaps others would is the religious mythology informing the books. Its just not an interest of mine. Id love to see Morehouse do some straight sci fi.

Summary: This was a disappointment to me since I enjoyed Rosen's "Chains of " books. But Hammer Town needs about two more drafts and some serious editing. Even the main character, Hammer, is just a pale reflection of RJ from the "Chains of" books. I'm hoping this is a fluke and that her other books are better.

Summary: RJ is fighting the Reliance, which is the global (galactic) human government based on greed and corruption. But she's doing it alone. Then she hooks up with some other rebels and form a ragtag army. What drives the book are the characters, who are all very interesting and very conflicted. RJ is awesome. Her self-assuredness and arrogance remind me of Achilles in the movie Troy. Because, like him, she really is that good. (I'm partial to tough female characters).
